Christmas markets in Berlin

ho ho ho! Is that time of the year: Christmas. For those who does not know me: I LOVE CHRISTMAS!

I don’t know if is for the lights, decorations, red ribbons, the good spirit of people and kids. sharing gifts or just gain 20 kg on a table shared with friends and family but I just can’t be happier to celebrate this moment!

Here in Berlin, you start seeing shops full of decorations by beginning of November. After 2 weeks, the streets and shops are all lighten up!

I love to live in a city with such a variety of Christmas markets to visit.

So here you can find a list of some of my favorites Christmas markets and some other nice events in the city.

Gendarmenmarkt

Christmas market at Gendarmenmarkt

Located on one of the most beautiful location of the city between Französischer Dom and Deutscher Dom, this market offers all sort of delicious food and drinks, crafted products and a stage for singing, dancing and theater shows.

Everything at this market is just wonderful and it´s a great place to buy gifts so make sure to visit it while in Berlin!

Christmas Market at Charlottenburg Palace

This market also offers a 5 stars touristic location. I could stare at that palace with my Glühwein ( literally means “glowing wine” , served at every Christmas market in Germany made from heated red wine, orange juice, spiced such as cinnamon sticks, cloves, star anise, zest and sugar) on my hands for hours.

Christmas Market at Berlin Town Hall

I am not sure but for me this feels like the biggest market. I enjoy the fact that has a skating ring and its right in the centre of the city.

Christmas Market at Gedächtniskirche

This market is smaller compared to the other that I mentioned above but it worth it all. Is located in one of the nicest shopping area of Berlin, Kurfürstendamm and has a little bit of everything and good food stands.

Other events and nice locations

  • Botanical Garden: You can visit the garden lighten up with colorful illumination and light sculptures. You will have to pay the entrance to enjoy the show.
  • KaDeWe: The luxury mall offers special events and decoration over the Christmas season. Kids have the chance to meet and take a picture with Santa Claus and enjoy the Christmas decorations. In these time of the year the mall would be even more crowded than usual but you can’t skip the visit. Shop windows foo this season are unexpectedly more stunning than usual.

You can check the official Berlin website for more info and let me know which one is your favorite!
